Privacy Policy — TalePOP

Thank you for using TalePOP. Your privacy — and your child's — is the starting point of how this app is built. This page explains what we keep on our servers, what stays on your device, and who else sees your data.

What we store on our servers

We keep an anonymous device record (a randomly generated device ID, platform, app version, locale, and — if you grant permission — a push notification token) and, if you subscribe, your subscription status (plan tier, expiry date, and whether you purchased through Apple or Google). We do not keep raw purchase receipts, and there are no user accounts, emails, or real names on our servers.

What stays on your device

Your child's name, avatar, saved characters, generated stories, illustrations, audio narration, and favorites are stored only on your phone or tablet. Uninstalling the app removes them. We never permanently upload this content to our servers. The only exception: for co-author (interactive) stories, the story state (including your child's name) is stored temporarily in our database for up to 24 hours so you can resume mid-story, then automatically deleted.

AI providers

To generate a story, the app sends the details you enter in the wizard (character name, companion, world, language, and story options) to our AI partners — OpenAI, Google (Gemini), and Anthropic (Claude) — who produce the text, illustrations, and narration. These providers process the request under their own privacy policies (OpenAI, Google, Anthropic). We forget the prompt as soon as the story is generated.

Data security

Traffic between the app and our backend is encrypted over HTTPS. Our database holds only the minimal anonymous data described above. We follow reasonable industry practice to keep it safe.

Changes to this privacy policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Any changes will be posted on this page; continued use of the app after an update means you accept the new version.
